Chapter 59
To the chief Musician{H8764)}, Altaschith{H8686)}, Michtam of David; when Saul sent{H8800)}, and they watched{H8799)} the house to kill him{H8687)}. Deliver{H8685)} me from mine enemies{H8802)}, O my God: defend{H8762)} me from them that rise up{H8693)} against me.
Deliver{H8685)} me from the workers{H8802)} of iniquity, and save{H8685)} me from bloody men.
For, lo, they lie in wait{H8804)} for my soul: the mighty are gathered{H8799)} against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
They run{H8799)} and prepare{H8709)} themselves without my fault: awake{H8798)} to help{H8800)} me, and behold{H8798)}.
Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake{H8685)} to visit{H8800)} all the heathen: be not merciful{H8799)} to any wicked transgressors{H8802)}. Selah.
They return{H8799)} at evening: they make a noise{H8799)} like a dog, and go round about{H8779)} the city.
Behold, they belch out{H8686)} with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear{H8802)}?
But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh{H8799)} at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision{H8799)}.
Because of his strength will I wait{H8799)} upon thee: for God is my defence.
The God of my mercy shall prevent{H8762)} me: God shall let me see{H8686)} my desire upon mine enemies{H8802)}.
Slay{H8799)} them not, lest my people forget{H8799)}: scatter{H8685)} them by thy power; and bring them down{H8685)}, O Lord our shield.
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken{H8735)} in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak{H8762)}.
Consume{H8761)} them in wrath, consume{H8761)} them, that they may not be: and let them know{H8799)} that God ruleth{H8802)} in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
And at evening let them return{H8799)}; and let them make a noise{H8799)} like a dog, and go round about{H8779)} the city.
Let them wander up and down{H8686)}{H8675)}{H8799)} for meat{H8800)}, and grudge{H8799)} if they be not satisfied{H8799)}.
But I will sing{H8799)} of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud{H8762)} of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing{H8762)}: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
